
Tony has had his share of run-ins with the law before packing the pistol away to play hoodlums in the movies. Best known for portraying the character “Paulie Walnuts” for the six season run of HBO’s award-winning dark comedy The Sopranos, Tony knew immediately upon reading the script that this was the role he had been looking for his entire life.
In addition to The Sopranos, Tony has worked with directors like Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese, Sydney Pollack, and Francis Ford Coppola. In his own words, he’s “done like 45 movies, played 40 gangsters and five crooked cops” (Daily News, 2/7/99), a resume that eminently qualifies him for the official group of New York actors called GAG – the Gangsters Actors Guild.

After making her appearance as the title role in Mausi
or: how
an old lady finds her way back to India, Sulekha Das is
back by popular demand. She wowed audiences in her hilarious
onscreen debut as the hyper chai-caffeinated Mary Poppins from
India and inspired the continuation of this story as a feature. Sulekha
made her foray into acting doing radio plays for All India Radio. She
is also a talented lyricist and poet. In
addition to being
the Director of
the Whippanong
Public Library,
she dedicates much
of her time to
charitable causes
including the M.A.
Center, a school
for blind and deaf
children, and an
orphanage in her
home state of Orissa,
India.

Gargi
Mukherjee recently
played the part
of Mira Mashi in
Mira Nair’s
latest film, The Namesake. She
is a well-known actress in the
New York/New Jersey
Bangla theatre
community. She
performed the lead
part in Rabindranath
Tagore’s The
Red Oleanders at the South Asian Theatre Festival in the summer
of 2006. In the International Fringe Theater Festival of New York
in 2005, Gargi performed a monologue The Breast Chronicle, to
much critical acclaim,
which was based on
an adaptation of
a short story by
the celebrated Indian
novelist Mahasweta
Devi. She
was the executive
producer of a documentary Free to Sing made
on the controversial
singer/songwriter
from Kolkata, India. Gargi
holds a master’s
degree in English Literature
from NYU.

Barnali has been a working actress in Chicago for several years.
Her credits include the short film Complimentary Nuts.
Barnali has done several commercials, print campaigns, and voiceovers.
In 2003 Barnali co-founded the first South Asian theatre company
in the Mid-West, Rasaka Theatre Company. Rasaka produced Karma
Calling as a staged reading during its inception at the
Storefront Theater in Chicago.

Ansuman makes an encore appearance as Shyam Raj in Karma Calling. He
played Shyam in the short film Mausi or: how an old lady
finds her way back to India and received accolades for his
onscreen debut in film festivals across the globe. Ansuman
is also an executive producer with Illpath Entertainment, an independent
music label creating original hip hop sounds.

Ishani developed her passion for acting when she was in
the 5th grade and began acting lessons with Kerry Lea in New York
City. Her first gig was for a Masala Bhangra Workout Video
with Sarina Jain. Her dedicated father, Mike, continued to accompany
her to auditions and forums until she landed her next big break with
a small part in August Rush, starring Robin Williams and
Freddie Highmore. Ishani
recently appeared on
HBO's new hit "Flight
of the Conchords" and
also wrapped on the
feature film "Pretty
to Think So."

Rizwan was recently seen playing Colonel Mahmood in Mike Nichols’ Golden Globe Nominated film “Charlie Wilson’s War” (with Tom Hanks and Om Puri). He is best known for playing Salim Ali Khan in the Indo-American film “American Desi”. Past tv/film credits include: Transformers, The Guru, Rescue Me, NCIS, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Sleeper Cell, The Game, E-Ring, Damage Control, Late Night with Conan O’Brien and One Life to Live and The Shield to name a few. Rizwan is also the co-Artistic Director of Disha, a theater company whose mission is to foster and produce the works of South Asian artists.

Kavi is best known for her role in the first season of NBC's hit show HEROES as ; Mira Shenoy, Mohinder's ex-girlfriend. She is slated to star this year in the feature JOY LIES alongside Indian powerhouse actors Revathi and Dhritiman Chatterjee and fellow Karma Calling cast mate Samrat Chakrabarti.
Kavi is also featured in a documentary called I HEART HOLLYWOOD, currently in post production. Kavi's short film DRY CLEAN ONLY was one of this 2008's winners of the PBS.org INDEPENDENT LENS FESTIVAL online. In 1998 Kavi starred in JANANI, an Indian art film that won India's National Award for best director.

She holds a BFA in Acting from New York University's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts. and currently studies with Stuart Rogers. Samrat Chakrabarti holds a MFA in Acting from the ART/MXAT Program at Harvard University. His film credits include: Claire McCarthy's "The Waiting City" (w/Radha Mitchell), Bruce Leddy's "The Wedding Weekend" (w/Molly Shannon), Manish Acharya's "Loins of Punjab of Presents" (w/Shabana Azmi), Spike Lee's "She Hate Me", Leonardo Ricagni's "Indocumentados", Joseph Castelo's "The War Within" (nominated for INDIE SPIRIT AWARD), Anjaan Dutt's "The Bong Connection"(w/Victor Banerjee), Ajay Naidu's "Ashes", and,Amyn Kaderali's "Kissing Cousins." He has had several guest stars and recurring roles on television, such as: Law And Order(NBC), The Sopranos(HBO), Love Monkey (CBS), Damages (FX), All My Children (ABC) and Hope and Faith(ABC). Samrat is also an established international musician and has won numerous awards for his music, including: a U.S. CARA for Best Original Pop/Rock Song, for his composition, "What's It all About."

Parvesh Cheena has been a part
of Karma Calling from
its reading in Chicago with Rasaka Theatre Company (Founding member)
to its final cut. Based in Los Angeles, Parv grew up in
Naperville, IL and attended college at Roosevelt University in
Chicago. He made his film debut in Barbershop in
2002 as Samir and reprised his role in the 2004 sequel, Barbershop
2: Back in Business. Parvesh has
also appeared on the ABC sitcom, Help Me Help You starring
Ted Danson, ER, The West Wing, The Suite
Life with Zack and Cody, and Crossing Jordan. He
is currently performing with "The Group" at Second City
Los Angeles and is set to film Ode in 2007.


Debargo hails from New York City, and is starring in the upcoming feature films Everybody's Fine, with Robert De Niro and Kate Beckinsale, 7 to the Palace, with Aasif Mandvi and Naseeruddin Shah, Ashes, with Ajay Naidu and Faran Tahir, and Made for Each Other, with Bijou Phillips. His other feature film credits include Red Hook, Drawing with Chalk, Sad Sack Sally, My Sassy Girl, West 32nd, Quarter Life Crisis, and the animated film Sita Sings the Blues. He has made TV guest appearances on Law & Order, The Sopranos, The Unusuals, All My Children, and L&O: Criminal Intent, as well as national commercials. On the NYC stage, Debargo has starred in dozens of theater productions, including the world premiere of Chuck Mee's Queens Boulevard (the musical) and the NY premiere of Tom Stoppard's Indian Ink, with Sendhil Ramamurthy of TV's Heroes. |
